Hello brothers and sisters,

St. Matthews Area Ministries (SMAM) (http://www.neighborhoodlink.com/St_Matthews_Area_Ministries/home) is having a school supply distribution drive, which will begin on August 9.

The Director of Family Services at SMAM has indicated that they have not yet received many supplies from the St. Matthews community. Monday, July 26, 2010 is the final day that SMAM will be collecting supplies, so that they can begin filling the children’s bags and getting them ready for the August 9 distribution to begin.

In response to this need, we will have a box/table set up at Sojourn East this Sunday, July 25 to collect school supplies for this distribution. Please bring whatever supplies you can contribute to this ministry.

As an outpost of the Kingdom of Christ placed in the St. Matthews and northeast Louisville area, Sojourn should be a leader in blessing and ministering to our neighbors. This school supply drive is a very simple way for Sojourn to make our presence felt in this community and be a blessing to children and families who may not be able to afford adequate school supplies for the beginning of the upcoming school year.
